Description: To be completed by a Kaiako every morning before tamariki arrive.
A kaiako must check the following - if any checkbox is not ticked, "inform management" must be ticked.
Record any further information or actions taken in the "additional information" box

Checklist Questions
All cleaning agents, medicines, poisons and other hazardous materials are out of reach of children
All curtain/blind cords are secure and out of reach of children
All door locking devices are clearly visible and easily opened without a key or other device
All electrical equipment, cords and cables are good order and safe from tripping
All equipment that is stored above shoulder height is secured (cupboards locked, behind wires)
All fire exits are clear and not locked, barred or blocked
All heavy furniture, and equipment that could fall or topple and cause serious injury or damage are secured
All lights and heaters are clear of obstructions and working
All surfaces and equipment are clean and hygienic
Appropriate windows are open for ventilation (particularly in the toilet area)
Electrical sockets, hot appliances (including heaters and electric jugs) are inaccessible to children
Surfaces, building interior and equipment are free from any chipped paint, sharp corners or splinters
Taps are in good working order i.e., not dripping
The kitchen door is shut
The laundry door is locked/shut
There are paper towels and soap available for use by children and adults
There is no evidence of vermin and pests
Windows/glass are free of cracks and/or breaks
